Birthday cupcake

Ages ago I bought this stamp set from WMS for this cupcake and it's only now that I'm getting round to using it! I loved how Mona Pendleton created a chocolate cupcake with white icing here so CASEd that aspect of her lovely card. Keeping it simple, as i seem to do at the moment, I mounted the focal point onto some layered ribbon and a mat of chocolate spotty paper to tie in to the cupcake.

Tuesday Trigger

As soon as I saw the Tuesday Trigger on Moxie Fab I knew I wanted to have a go! The stripes just spoke to me. I thought the colours looked fun without being too young IYKWIM. I grabbed cardstock in similar colours and adhered widths of each colour along a strip of white card. Keeping it very simple and with a "text speak" sentiment I felt this card would be great for a friend's teenager.

Curtain call colour challenge # 62

I've so missed my fix of challenges during the build up to Christmas. With Christmas preparations, most of 2 weeks with children home on snow days and then my littlest one down with the flu, I've had almost no time to make stuff. So it was great today to grab the lovely colours for the latest Curtain Call Colour Challenge and put together this little card.

Hope you are enjoying your holidays.

Papertrey December Blog Hop Challenge

I hope you've all had a fabulous Christmas! Well I didn't think I'd get time this month to have a bash at the challenge for Papertrey Ink's blog hop, but I managed to squeeze a quick CAS card in. The challenge for this month was:

Holiday Leftovers

It's that time again for our annual holiday leftovers challenge! Use scraps of wrapping paper, parts of holiday cards, recycle gift tags or bits of ribbon on a paper crafting project. We all have plenty of it playing around after all the holiday excitement and this is your chance to incorporate some of those pretty little things into an amazing piece of art!

I looked at the pile of wrapping papers left over from yesterday and pulled out a length of bakers twine which I'd used to wrap one of our presents. I've always loved an aqua and red colour scheme so used the twine in combination with some aqua mist and pure poppy card to make this quick and simple birthday card for a friend's son. The little boat is from Tiny Treats Valentine and the sentiment from Birthday Basics.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your holidays.

CASEing Mailes

Another two CASEs of the wonderful Mailes Belles. My first card was based on this one by Mailes.

And my second card was a more direct CASE of this one by Mailes.

I hope all your Christmas preparations are going smoothly.

Tick

Another project ticked off my list! I've had the items for this project made and was just waiting to parcel them all up. However, the notebook was very tall and I was struggling to package it nicely. Then I saw this post by Michelle Wooderson and thought it was fab, so I used a glassine bag to collect all my items together.

Inside the parcel is a "Books to Read" notebook, a gift card holder with a card for Waterstones book store, a book mark (the original idea from here) and some book plates.

Birthday Wishes again!

I must think of more original post titles! Anyhow, while I had the lovely My Mind's Eye papers on my table from yesterday, I made this cute owl card using some of the coordinating stickers.

Once again I CASEd another card, this time this one by Julie Lacey. When I'm short of time or my mojo has gone walk about I find that my first point of call is the inspiration out there on the web. I find that by getting something made and enjoying the process helps me to get things on track again.

Experiment 2

OK, so I'm still working on whether to order the new PTI set Make a Wish. So this time I CASEd Betsy's card here.

I used my square Nesties to cut two presents out of some lovely My Mind's Eye fine and dandy papers adding trim cut using the the banner builder dies that I did get from PTI last month.

I'm much happier with today's experiment than I was with yesterdays. Perhaps I don't need a new set after all!

An experiment

An experiment in whether I need another stamp set. I guess most of you know the answer to that - I don't need another set, but ..... Anyway, I like the new PTI set by Melissa Bickford called Make A Wish. However, I wondered if I could make up a similar card to this one by Melissa with the sets I already own.

So here's my attempt. I used a bracket from Take Note, part of the dotted line from Merry Little Christmas and an ornate stamp from WMS Holiday Labels No.14 to make my stand for the present to sit on. I used square Nesties to cut a present and added a button and some sparkle.

I much prefer Melissa's card design and also the new stamp set and dies do a better job than my attempts too. So, my conclusion - I really do NEED that new set!

gift bag

I've been wrapping my Mum's presents in a gold and cream wrapping paper. When I came to a small package of makeup I decided to make a coordinating gift bag.

I cut the bag out of shimmer gold cardstock then cut a cream mat and heat embossed a gold pattern. I used dimensionals to pop up a circle of gold with a heat embossed cream snowflake. I then wrapped the makeup in 2 colours of tissue paper tied with a cream ribbon and popped it in the bag. Another gift wrapped and ready to go!

Gold and white embossing powders
Versamark ink

Congrats

Well finally things are starting to feel more 'normal' around here. The schools are back on, although the primary school had a burst pipe yesterday, but we are back on today. Finally I managed to sneak 5 minutes of me time to make a very quick card for a new baby girl who has come in to this world of snow and ice to warm everyones hearts. I totally CASEd Maile Belles card as I didn't have time for anything else. I used a snowflake stamp behind the sentiment to reflect the weather. Simple and clean. I will make some personalized bits and pieces later. They've named her Olivia - isn't that so sweet!

Take care and stay warm.

OK, seriously?!

More snow, are you kidding me?! Schools off still - that's my little helpers with me again. The schools have more or less been closed for over a week. Am I ever going to get some inky time! So my apologies for lack of posts :(

If you haven't guessed already I am loving the Tiny Treats Christmas set from PTI! Here's some more for the parent helper items. Thank you cards:

The set together:

The snow is still causing us havoc. The children are off school for their 3rd day and it keeps snowing! The snow plough came, got stuck, got dug out, reversed and went away! Fortunately a JCB had better luck, so we are able to get out of our drive now but the roads are treacherous.
